As a strategic partner, the Production Engineering Supervisor manages and ensures the performance of facility equipment and processes including management of maintenance staff. These duties include preventative maintenance and repair in a wide array of electro-mechanical, robotic equipment. This role is also responsible for conferring with department management to determine the progress of work and completion dates and compiling reports on the progress of work, labor hours, costs, and production problems. This position requires maintaining, troubleshooting, and/or testing robotic equipment or related automated production systems as well. Most tasks involve preventative, corrective maintenance work, as well as managing the operation of all equipment and robotic processes for the facility.


Principle Responsibilities

  • Distribute production schedules and work orders to maintenance staff.

  • Troubleshoot systems, using programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensors, etc.

  • Design, configure, and application of robotic systems and modify computer-controlled robot movements.

  • Disassemble and reassemble robots or peripheral equipment to make repairs.

  • Perform preventative or corrective maintenance on electromechanical equipment and robotic systems.

  • Maintain service records of robotic equipment or automated production systems.

  • Review documents, such as production schedules, work orders, or staffing spreadsheets to determine personnel or materials requirements and priorities.

  • Manage department supervisors or other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.

  • Examine documents, materials, or products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.

  • Monitor inventories of production supplies such as sensors and cables.

  • Fabricate housings, jigs, fittings, or fixtures, using metalworking machines, testing performance of electrical, electronic, mechanical, or integrated systems or equipment.

  • Coordinate operational activities by planning production commitments or timetables.

  • Compile and prepare documentation related to production sequences, personnel schedules, and maintenance, or repair orders.

  • Perform all work safely in a fast-paced work environment.

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of supervising experience required.

  • Associate degree in Engineering or related field preferred.

  • 10-15 years of experience in manufacturing, specialized in auto body parts, preferred.

  • Operate and maintaine press machines (SIMPAC, AP&T)

  • Ability to troubleshoot robotics using Yaskawa and Kuka.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, six sigma, and value engineering preferred.

  • Experience in PLC platforms such as Melsec, Mitsubishi.

  • Ability to program PLC robotics.

  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks in the fast-paced environment and prioritize workload.

  • Team player with high energy and a can-do attitude.

  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

  • Strong math skills, with the capability of understanding and conducting basic arithmetic and statistical operations.

  • Ability to quickly recognize errors and inconsistencies in numerical data (good analysis skills).

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent supervisory and communication skills.

  • Must be flexible to working overtime, weekends, and occasionally holidays.
