Job Title: Android Development Engineer​
Locations: Dallas, TX / Seattle, WA / Bridgewater, NJ


The Android Application Developer will primarily be involved in the design, implementation and commercialization of Android applications on Samsung handsets. These applications make use of one or more network services (such as Email, Web services API etc.) and interact with one or more apps/frameworks on the handset (such as Phone, Messages, Contacts etc.).
The developer will work closely with other developers to create robust designs. In addition, they will work closely with one or more QA teams (local or remote) to identify, debug and fix production issues. The developer is expected to work hard during production/launch time frames to ensure that handset launches are not delayed.
Job Duties
  • Design, implement and test one or more Android applications - using state of the art Android APIs and frameworks.
  • Develops robust and Extendible code using latest Android Design Patterns
  • Ensures Code quality by developing unit tests for all the components
  • Develops Automation Tests using Scripting languages
  • Work closely with QA teams to identify and fix any and all bugs that are reported.
Qualifications
  • 3+ yrs Experience in Android Programming. Expertise in developing non trivial Android applications is required
  • 3+ yrs Experience in Java programming. Expertise with object-oriented design and development mandatory; knowledge of common Java “design patterns” is required.
  • Knowledge of Android APIs  and Frameworks is required
  • Experience working with Client server applications using network protocols like HTTP, IMAP, ActiveSync is preferred
  • Experience with Scripting languages like Python, for developing automation tests is preferred
  • Experience with SCM Tools like GIT and Perforce is required
  • Experience with Project Management tools JIRA, Confluence and SharePoint is preferred
  • Must have strong Written and Oral Communication skills
  • Minimal qualification should be BS in Computer Science, MS is preferred

SUMMARY
The Android Application Developer works in a team developing, and maintaining features of the My Account applications across all the brands that the My Account application is deployed. Provide development support for existing My Account branded Android applications and provide upgrades to the latest Android and PLAY Services versions. Experience developing consumer focused credit card or banking apps are a definite plus.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop re-usable, maintainable UI /layouts for Android phones and tablets of various form factors.   
  • Develop re-usable libraries for interacting with REST based web services and call backs.
  • Support existing application logic, and extend them to satisfy business rules from various brands at MVNO.
  • Create unit tests, and provide development support during SQA tests.
  • Create and perform unit and integration tests of developed components.
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Previous experience developing a native financial or a banking application is a plus.
  • Expert knowledge on Android and Google technologies.
  • Experience releasing applications on the Google Play store is a plus.
  • Experience with Android APIs, Java, XML, GIT and Eclipse, Android Studio required.
  • Knowledge of good software development processes such as configuration management, software lifecycle and defect tracking.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Experience in implementing Google Services like GCM on the phones and tablet.
  • Familiar with agile development process.
  • Degree in Engineering or Computer Science required.
  • 2~3 years developing Android applications required.
